Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Scarborough, Tobago, 11 km from the airport (TAB): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in July and August; quietest in January and April.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, but some smaller shops take only cash, so carry some TT dollars; some businesses take US dollars for cash payments. Banks across Tobago have ATMs: use well-lit ones, in daylight, and take out small amounts.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not traditionally expected, though restaurants in hotels or serving visitors may expect a tip; airport taxi drivers expect one, other taxi drivers do not.

Getting around Trinidad and Tobago

PTSC buses run between Crown Point, where the airport is, and Scarborough for TT$2: buy the ticket before you board, from a PTSC ticket seller (one is at the airport). From Trinidad, Caribbean Airlines flies from Piarco in about 25 minutes, and the inter-island ferry from Port of Spain to Scarborough takes 3 to 3½ hours, TT$75 one way in economy.

  • Apps — Rides: TT RideShare. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp, Messenger. Ride-share apps are not always reliable, so have a fallback: official taxis have plates beginning with H, and the airport's information booth can point you to an accredited one. Agree the fare before you set off, and be wary of lifts in private cars and maxi taxis.

TTRS Trinidad and Tobago Ride share is a safe and convenient way to get around. Download the app and get verified before you go. More on Wikivoyage
