Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Grand Anse: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in August; quietest in April, May and October.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — US dollars are accepted alongside Eastern Caribbean dollars, and hotels and car-hire firms take major cards; taxi drivers and other small businesses seldom do, so carry cash. ATMs are only at banks.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Most hotels and restaurants add a 10% service charge, so any further tip is at your discretion.

Getting around Grenada

Minibuses with a zone sticker on the front run at fixed fares from the St George's bus terminal; Zone 1 serves Grand Anse and ends at Calliste, about a mile short of the airport. Fares run from EC$2.50 to EC$6.50 depending on the route, and a conductor on board can help if you need it.

  • Apps — Rides: Haylup. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp. Haylup is paid by card in the app; street taxis (plates beginning with H) have no meters but standard fares for most trips, so agree the fare in EC dollars before you set off.

Minibuses are the staple public transport, see Grenada (island)#Get around. Eight routes fan out from St George's bus terminal next to the cruiser dock, very frequently along Route 1 to Grand Anse and Calliste. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police and fire 911 · ambulance 434. 434 is the ambulance of St George's General Hospital; in Grenville call 724, and on Carriacou 774.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
