Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Kingstown, Saint Vincent, 8 km from the airport (SVD): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in December.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, and US dollars are widely accepted. Many hotels, restaurants and businesses take credit cards, but some smaller ones take only cash, so carry some on outings. Most banks have ATMs that take credit and debit cards and pay out EC dollars; the airport's only ATM, in the arrivals terminal, works at any hour.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.

Getting around Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

At Argyle International Airport (SVD), about 8 km from Kingstown, a taxi dispatcher waits just outside the arrivals exit and assigns you a taxi. Buses run on St Vincent and are relatively safe, though they can be overcrowded and often travel too fast. Ferries to Bequia leave Kingstown several times a day, and others sail a few days a week to Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island.

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Taxis have no meters, but there are set fares for most destinations: take a licensed taxi with a Tourism Approved logo in the window, and agree the fare in EC dollars with the driver before you set off (US dollars are often taken instead).

The island is relatively small, but the mountainous landscape makes it difficult to get around. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 911 or 999 (any emergency) · police 999 · ambulance 911. From a landline, the police can also be called on 457 1211.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
