Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Ajaccio, 5 km from the airport (AJA): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from June to August; quietest in February, November and December.

Then and now

Corsica's June days now average 27.9°C, 4.7°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Getting there

How far Corsica is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and E plugs at 230 / 400 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Euro. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for France: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Visa, Mastercard and French CB cards work in almost all shops, restaurants and hotels, and contactless is widespread. Some places post a minimum spend for cards.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Only at a few places, through Lyra: Eiffel Tower tickets bought online and the Galeries Lafayette store on boulevard Haussmann in Paris. Bring a card for everything else.
  • Tipping — Not expected, as service is included by law; locals leave small change or a few euros for good service. Taxi tips are optional.

Getting around Corsica

In Ajaccio, buy bus tickets in the CAPAMOVE app (€1 for an hour) or from the driver (€2); the airport bus, line 11, needs an €8 ticket bought in advance in the app. The railway links Ajaccio with Corte, Bastia and Calvi: buy at the station or on board on the day, in cash or by card (Ajaccio to Bastia €21.60). Via Corsica coaches between towns sell tickets in the M-Ticket Via Corsica app, or for more from the driver.

  • Apps — Rides: Bolt, FreeNow, G7, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp.

Car is the simplest way to get around this rugged island, as public transport is limited and the hills are formidable. Many people arrive by ferry and take their own car onto the island. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 112 (any emergency) · police 17 · ambulance 15 · fire 18.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
