Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the old town: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from June to September; quietest from October to April.

What Annecy is like

Annecy, in the north of the French Alps, is called "the Venice of Savoie" — a well-deserved title. The medieval town centre built around a 14th-century chateau is dissected by small canals and streams running out of Lac Annecy, which is clean, fresh and a wonderful azure colour. More on Wikivoyage

Worth seeing
Palais de l'Isle. A former palace turned prison. As the name says, it sits on an island between the canals. €5.50. More on Wikivoyage
Worth doing
Swim, row or sail on the lake. The city provides free public beaches for swimming in addition to some pay beaches. More on Wikivoyage
Getting in
Geneva is the nearest major international airport and is well served from across Europe and beyond. On the motorway, it is just over 35 min away. More on Wikivoyage
