Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Gustavia: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from December to February; quietest in May, June, September and October.

Getting around Saint Barthélemy

There are no long-haul flights: most visitors change at Sint Maarten (SXM), or in Guadeloupe, Antigua or Puerto Rico, for a short flight to Rémy de Haenen airport, which closes 15 minutes after sunset, and ferries sail from Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin to Gustavia several times a day, in under an hour. At Princess Juliana Airport, a representative of the ferry company meets passengers and takes them to the marina (for Great Bay Express, a 20 to 25 minute shuttle ride to Philipsburg). There is no public transport on the island: most visitors hire a car, from agencies at the airport and in Gustavia, best booked ahead in high season.

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. There are two taxi stands, which you can call: at the airport on +590 690 52 40 40, and at the ferry dock in Gustavia on +590 690 27 66 31.
