Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at The Valley: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in July and August; quietest in October.

Then and now

Anguilla's October days now average 28.5°C, 1.3°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Getting there

Fly into Sint Maarten (SXM), then drive. The flights under Where to book are to Sint Maarten.

Sint Maarten (SXM) the drive is not measured yet
The Valley (AXA) the drive is not measured yet

The drive from each airport is the road's, from openrouteservice.org by HeiGIT: typical, not a schedule.

How far Anguilla is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, and US dollars are widely accepted. There are ATMs across the island, but take out cash by Friday if you are staying over the weekend. Card and ATM fraud happens at times: use ATMs inside a bank or in public places, and cover the keypad.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Porters and van drivers who carry luggage to and from the ferries depend on tips, so keep some small notes to hand.

Getting around Anguilla

There is no public transport except taxis; to hire a car you need a temporary Anguillian licence (US$25, valid for three months, sold by the rental firms), and driving is on the left. The main gateways are Sint Maarten (SXM), Puerto Rico and Antigua. From Sint Maarten, Anguilla Air Services flies to Clayton J. Lloyd airport (AXA), on the edge of The Valley, in seven minutes; private ferries leave from the terminal across from Princess Juliana airport, from US$65 one way, best booked ahead; and the public ferry from Marigot, on the French side, sails to Blowing Point several times a day from 8:30am to 6pm, for US$30 one way, with no reservations.

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Taxi fares are fixed, set out in a published rate guide for trips across the island, and many visitors arrange with one local driver for all their trips during their stay.

For most visitors, a rented car is the best option. Even if you are staying at a full-service resort, you will want to sample the many beaches and restaurants on the island. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 911 (any emergency). For emergencies at sea, call +1 264 497 2871.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 8 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
