Tours and tickets in Kraków

Each site opens on its own search: choose your dates there. A few open on their home page, where you type the place too. Links marked Ad pay us a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you; most pay nothing, and what a site pays never decides whether it is listed or where. How we rank

Sights and their lines from Wikivoyage (Kraków/Old Town, Kraków/South), licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, and Wikidata; in order of how often each one's Wikipedia article was read on phones in the last 12 months.

No fare history for this route yet, so this ranking is climate and crowds only — the price column will fill in as the scanner collects.

Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the Main Square, 11 km from the airport (KRK): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from July to September; quietest in January, February, March and November.

Then and now

Kraków's February days now average 5.4°C, 4.2°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 9 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Getting there

How far Kraków is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and E plugs at 220 / 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Złoty. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Poland: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Cards work almost everywhere in big cities; some small shops and post offices still want cash. Locals often pay with BLIK, a code from a Polish banking app.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Around 10% in restaurants if you were pleased; no custom of tipping taxi drivers. Saying 'thank you' as you hand over cash means keep the change.

Getting around Kraków

Buy a ticket from the machine on board (cash or card, as the sign on the door shows), a machine at the stop, a newsagent or an app such as Jakdojade, and validate a paper ticket as you board. A single or 30-minute ticket costs PLN 6.00, 60 minutes PLN 8.00, and 24 hours within the city (zone I) PLN 20.00. From the airport, the SKA1 train runs to Kraków Główny, the main station, for PLN 20; buy the ticket from the machine on the train, by cash or card, or from the conductor.

  • Apps — Rides: Bolt, FreeNow, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: Messenger.

Kraków is compact and most sights can be covered easily on foot, with an occasional tram ride. Depending on your level of fitness, you can see the whole of the city centre without needing any transport. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 112 (any emergency) · police 997 · ambulance 999 · fire 998.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

What Kraków is like

Kraków (IPA: [ˈkrakuf]) is the chief city of Małopolskie Province in the south of Poland and was the capital of the country during the Middle Ages. At its core is a beautifully-preserved medieval town on the banks of the River Wisła or Vistula, and it's Poland's top tourist draw. More on Wikivoyage

Staying safe
