Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Le Gosier, 8 km from the airport (PTP): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from December to February; quietest in May, September and October.

Then and now

Guadeloupe's July days now average 30.9°C, 2.9°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Most hotels, restaurants, petrol stations and big stores take Visa and Mastercard; American Express only some. Cash still pays for almost half of shop purchases, more than half in the south of Grande-Terre and on Marie-Galante, and is often preferred at markets, small shops, food trucks and beach bars.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.

Getting around Guadeloupe

Karu'lis buses serve Le Gosier, Pointe-à-Pitre, Les Abymes and Baie-Mahault, and lines AE1, AE3, AE4 and AE5 serve the airport. Buy ride credits in the Karu'lis app and validate each trip with its QR code, so you need no coins.

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps.

Cars can be hired at the airport in Pointe-à-Pitre. The main roads are of the same quality as metropolitan France, but smaller roads are often uneven, pot-holed and frankly dangerous. More on Wikivoyage

TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
