Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Willemstad, 9 km from the airport (CUR): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in July and August; quietest in February.

Then and now

Curaçao's September days now average 32.4°C, 3.8°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — US dollars are taken everywhere alongside the Caribbean guilder (Cg), which replaced the Antillean guilder in 2025, though change usually comes in guilders. Most shops, restaurants and hotels take cards; taxis and some attractions away from Willemstad want cash.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — A service charge (about 10% in restaurants, 12% in hotels) is on the bill but is not a tip; tip waiters 5-10% if you wish, taxi drivers about 10% and porters Cg1 a bag.

Getting around Curaçao

Pay the driver in cash on ABC buses, in coins if you can; ABC's SmartPass card has to be registered in person at its office. Timetables and a trip planner are in the ABC Curaçao app.

  • Apps — Rides: 24-7 Taxi Curaçao. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp, Messenger. There is no Uber or Lyft, and the government warned in July 2026 that paid rides through Uber are illegal; the 24-7 Taxi Curaçao app books licensed taxis at a fixed price.

A car is pretty much needed to get around the island. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police and fire 911 · ambulance 912. The coastguard is on 913.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

What Curaçao is like

Curaçao (Papiamentu: Kòrsou) is an island in the Caribbean Sea, among the group known as the ABC Islands alongside Aruba and Bonaire. This trio is located near Venezuela, and is considered to be outside the Caribbean's so-called "hurricane zone"; vacations to the island are rarely disrupted by tropical storms. More on Wikivoyage
