Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the Zone Touristique (Sidi Mahrez beach), 21 km from the airport (DJE): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Getting there

How far Djerba is depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and E plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Tunisian dinar. UK Foreign Office: avoid all travel to parts. Everything for Tunisia: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — The currency is the Tunisian dinar, which may not be taken into or out of the country. Change money only at a bank, bureau de change, post office or your hotel. ATMs are easy to find in the cities and tourist areas, and many places there take credit cards.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — About 10% is generally expected in restaurants, left in cash so that the waiter gets it, and drivers and guides are tipped too.

Getting around Djerba

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps. Official taxis are yellow: hail one and ask the driver to use the meter, expecting to pay extra for luggage or at night, or order one in an app, which shows the fare but usually costs more. Taxis generally take only cash.

Public transportation is limited but taxis are available for reasonable prices. Stations de taxis exist in most towns and appear on Google Maps. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police 197 · ambulance 190 · fire 198. In rural areas and small villages, call the National Guard on 193.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 8 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
