Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Da Nang airport, 6 km from the city centre: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

Busy and quiet times in Da Nang

Be mindful of potential tropical storms and heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, especially from October to December, as this can affect travel plans and safety.

Busiest
early Jun to late Aug — This is the dry season with the highest temperatures and most sunlight, making it ideal for beach activities.
Quieter, still good
early Mar to late May — Milder temperatures and lower rainfall make this a pleasant time to visit before the peak heat.
early Sep to late Oct — While the weather starts to cool off, occasional rains might occur, which can provide better value.
early Nov to late Nov — Transition period before the peak season with manageable weather.
Wet or stormy
early Oct to late Dec — monsoon, moderate
Watch out for tropical storms; heavy rains

Written by a language model from the climate figures above. The month-by-month table is measured — ten years of ERA5 readings and published holiday calendars — and where the two disagree, the table is the one to believe.

What Da Nang is like

Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) is Vietnam's fifth largest city. It's in Central Vietnam on the South China Sea coast, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The city has neither the ambiance of Hanoi nor the hustle-bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, but has its share of sights. More on Wikivoyage

Worth seeing
For years, tourists have bypassed Da Nang on their travel itineraries, preferring to spend their time viewing the ancient imperial court at Hue or walking the streets of the old town in Hoi An. More on Wikivoyage
Worth doing
Danang is justly famous for its beaches. More on Wikivoyage
Getting in
Da Nang International Airport (DAD IATA) (3 km southwest of the center of Da Nang, a 10-minute trip at most). More on Wikivoyage
Staying safe
In general, you'll find that Da Nang is a safer and far more laid back city compared to hectic Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. As the number of tourists rises, of course, things begin to change. More on Wikivoyage
Staying healthy
Pharmacity 24hrs. This national chain of pharmacies provides quality medicines you can trust with competitive prices. Some, such as this branch are open 24/7. More on Wikivoyage

Getting there

How far Da Nang is depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Like a local in Da Nang

On arrival

  • Paying — Cards work in hotels, malls and tourist places; carry cash for street food, markets and small shops. Most shops show a VietQR code, which some Asian bank and wallet apps can now scan.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not expected, though welcome in tourist places. Carry small notes so a taxi driver cannot keep the change.

Getting around Da Nang

  • Apps — Rides: Green SM, Grab, Be. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: Zalo, WhatsApp. Green SM, the electric taxi and motorbike app, was called Xanh SM until April 2026, so older signs and guides use that name.

The average cabbie speaks no English, so Grab is very useful for getting to your destination, it can even translate chat messages both ways. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police 113 · ambulance 115 · fire 114. The emergency lines answer in Vietnamese only.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
