Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Amalfi: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from May to August; quietest from November to February.

Then and now

The Amalfi Coast's June days now average 28.3°C, 4.6°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 11 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Getting there

Fly into Napoli (NAP), then drive. The flights under Where to book are to Napoli.

The drive from each airport is the road's, from openrouteservice.org by HeiGIT: typical, not a schedule.

How far The Amalfi Coast is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and F and L plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Euro. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Italy: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — By law, shops, cafés and bars must take a card payment of any amount, and refusing one is fined. Carry a little cash for tips.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not customary; restaurants outside Rome often add a cover charge (coperto). Leaving the change in cafés and taxis is common.

Getting around The Amalfi Coast

SITA SUD buses link Amalfi with Positano and Sorrento, Ravello and Salerno: buy tickets at SITA's ticket office in Salerno, authorised sellers or in the UNICO Campania app, and validate them, or check in in the app, as you board. A COSTIERASITA ticket (€10) gives unlimited rides for 24 hours from its first validation, with your name and date of birth written on it; other ticket prices rose on 1 October 2026. Travelmar ferries sail all year from Salerno's Piazza Concordia, by the railway station, to Amalfi (35 minutes, €12) and Positano (70 minutes, €17); buy at the port ticket offices on the day or online. From Naples airport, Pintour buses run to the Amalfi Coast by way of Pompei and Vietri, and Curreri buses to Sorrento.

  • Apps — Rides: FreeNow, itTaxi, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp. In Rome these apps book licensed taxis; Uber also offers the dearer Uber Black.

Many people rent the ubiquitous scooters, which is an indeed a good option, if you have previous experience, otherwise the heavy traffic and narrow roads makes this a bad place to learn. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police 112 · ambulance 118 · fire 115.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
