Each cell is that destination's own verdict for the month — sweet spot, ok or avoid — with its typical daily high, from the same ten years of climate readings its page is built from. A dot marks a busy month. The last row counts the sweet spots, and the best months are marked.

On arrival
- Apps — Rides: FreeNow, itTaxi, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp. In Rome these apps book licensed taxis; Uber also offers the dearer Uber Black.
- Paying — By law, shops, cafés and bars must take a card payment of any amount, and refusing one is fined. Carry a little cash for tips.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Milan — Tap a contactless bank card or phone at metro gates, in and out, and on trams and buses as you board, with the same card all day: a fare (€2.20) lasts 90 minutes, and within 24 hours charges stop at the €7.60 day fare. Not on S-line trains. The ATM app sells tickets too; validate them before boarding.
- Getting around Rome — Tap a contactless bank card or phone at metro gates and on buses and trams (tap&go). A fare lasts 100 minutes, and the day's spending is capped.
- Getting around Venice — Tap a contactless bank card or phone on the reader at the vaporetto stop each time you board; there is no tap out on boats. A ride costs €9.50 and lasts 75 minutes, and spending is capped at the 1-, 2-, 3- and 7-day pass prices (€25 to €65). Validate a ticket from the AVM Venezia app or a machine at the stop at the start of each trip and at every change.
- Tipping — Not customary; restaurants outside Rome often add a cover charge (coperto). Leaving the change in cafés and taxis is common.
- Emergency — police 112 · ambulance 118 · fire 115.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about Italy as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
