Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Beau Vallon, on Mahé, 12 km from the airport (SEZ): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

About as busy all year round.

Then and now

Seychelles's June days now average 27.0°C, 0.8°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 6 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Most hotels, restaurants and shops in tourist areas take cards, and you can pay in rupees, euros or US dollars. ATMs, at the airport and in tourist areas, generally give only rupees.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not obligatory; most places already add a 5-10% service charge, but leaving extra change is appreciated.

Getting around Seychelles

SPTC buses cover Mahé and Praslin. A Visitor Travel Card gives unlimited rides (SCR 100 for 1 day, SCR 198 for 4 days, SCR 363 for 8 days): buy it before you fly through the Seychelles Electronic Border System or at the airport, then tap it on the reader. Otherwise pay cash in rupees, in notes no bigger than SCR 25.

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps.

Air Seychelles operates multiple daily flights between Mahe and Praslin. Over two dozen flights vary in frequency from 15-minute to 2-hour intervals, depending on time of day. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 999 (any emergency).
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

What Seychelles is like

The Seychelles (Seychellois Creole: Sesel) is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar and east of Kenya. It consists of 115 islands, of which the largest are Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue. The capital and largest city is Victoria, located on the island of Mahe. More on Wikivoyage

Worth doing
Water sports: The warm Indian Ocean waters make Seychelles the perfect place for water enthusiasts. Explore on the board of a yacht, power boat, catamaran or sailboat. More on Wikivoyage
Getting in
Visas are not required, though all foreigners must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months, and must have proof of accommodation bookings before arrival (these may be checked). More on Wikivoyage
Staying safe
Try to avoid any dark lanes, and always be careful not to leave your bag unattended. Swimming alone on isolated beaches is not advisable. More on Wikivoyage
Staying healthy
Chikungunya virus is a disease spread by mosquitoes, and causes flu-like symptoms. It is increasing in concern and although it is rare to die from it, the joint pain it causes can last for months. More on Wikivoyage
