Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Mykonos: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from May to September; quietest from October to April.

Then and now

Mykonos's July days now average 28.8°C, 3.5°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Getting there

How far Mykonos is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and F plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Euro. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Greece: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Cards are widely taken in shops, hotels and for transport, but not in some restaurants; carry some euros.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — For sending money to India, not for paying in shops; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not required; leave a euro or two, or round up, in restaurants. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip, though rounding up to the euro is common.

Getting around Mykonos

KTEL Mykonos buses leave Mykonos Town from the Fabrika station for the airport and for beaches such as Ornos, Agios Ioannis, Platis Gialos, Paradise and Paranga, and from the Old Port for the New Port and Agios Stefanos. Pay the driver as you board, or buy tickets on KTEL Mykonos's own website.

  • Apps — Rides: Bolt, FreeNow, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: Viber.

With a length of 12 to 15 km and a width of 10 km, Mykonos is one of the smallest of the Cyclades islands. On Mykonos you can get around by bus, taxi, car, scooter, ATV or boat. More on Wikivoyage
