Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the centre, 7 km from the airport (OMO): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from June to September; quietest from November to April.

Then and now

How far Mostar is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and F plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Convertible mark. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Bosnia and Herzegovina: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Shopping centres and upscale restaurants take cards, but small cafés, clubs and souvenir shops mostly want cash in convertible marks (KM). Euro notes of €20 or less are widely accepted, and small shops may have no change for 100 or 200 KM notes.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Tips are not included in bills: round up in cafés, and leave about 10% in restaurants for good service.

Getting around Mostar

  • Apps — Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps.

Help

  • Emergency — police 122 · ambulance 124 · fire 123.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

What Mostar is like

Mostar is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Much of the city has been rebuilt and visitors might be surprised to see that this formerly war-torn city is a lively and beautiful destination once again, particularly the area within and around the old town. More on Wikivoyage

Worth seeing
The bridge is the highlight of Mostar and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main site in Mostar, if not Bosnia. More on Wikivoyage
Worth doing
Watch locals dive off the Old Bridge. Members of the Mostar Diving Club will dive off the bridge into the emerald green waters, but first they will try to collect some money from tourists. More on Wikivoyage
Getting in
Mostar Main (east) bus station (Autobuska stanica Mostar), Maršala Tita (on eastern part of Mostar, close to Carinski bridge and University of Dzemal Bijedic). The main transit terminal for buses and trains. More on Wikivoyage
Staying safe
As of 2022, the Mostar Bridge and all with tourists tightly packed places still attract the odd pickpocketers to rip off the unsuspected old lady, but probably not anyone reading this travel guide. More on Wikivoyage
