Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Glavni trg, the old town: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from July to September; quietest in January, February, March, May and November.

How far Maribor is depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and F plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Euro. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Slovenia: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Slovenia uses the euro. Cash still settles nearly two-thirds of payments in shops, cafés and the like (64% in 2024, by the European Central Bank's count), and ATMs are rare in the mountains and small villages, so carry enough cash there.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not generally practised: people may round up to the next euro, or tip for truly exceptional service.

Getting around Maribor

  • Apps — Rides: Uber, Wizi. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Use only officially marked taxis, and confirm the fare in advance or insist that the driver uses the meter, as you may be overcharged.

Maribor is quite a small town, so it's easy to get around the city centre on foot. There are two tourist information centres in Maribor: one at Partizanska ulica 6a, next to the Franciscan Church (the red-brick one). More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police 113 · ambulance and fire 112. For mountain rescue, call 112.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 8 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
