Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the old town: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from July to September; quietest from January to March.

How far Novi Sad is, and what it costs, depends on where you set off from — the months above do not.

Before you go

Type C and F plugs at 230 V. Drives on the right. The currency is the Serbian dinar. No UK Foreign Office advice against travel. Everything for Serbia: cost of living, languages, emergency numbers and health.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted, American Express and Diners Club rarely. Carry dinars in small notes: taxis, street vendors and small restaurants rarely have change for large ones.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — Not required, as service is included, but rounding up or leaving 10 to 15% is common in restaurants if you were pleased; round up in bars and taxis.

Getting around Novi Sad

  • Apps — Rides: CarGo, Yandex Go. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: Viber. CarGo and Yandex Go verify your phone number by text message, which may not arrive, depending on your carrier.

The city centre is quite small and most of the interesting sights, bars and hotels are all within easy walking distance. There are plenty of street maps, especially in the centre, so you can find your way easily. More on Wikivoyage

  • Emergency — 112 (any emergency) · police 192 · ambulance 194 · fire 193.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
