Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the walled city: ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in July and September; quietest in January, March, April and May.

What Chester is like

Chester (Welsh: Caer) is a very pretty and historic English city on the river Dee, and the county town (capital) of the North-Western county of Cheshire. Although maybe not worth a whole holiday, it's well worth a day or overnight trip to see the Roman ruins and medieval city centre. More on Wikivoyage

Worth seeing
Cathedral, Abbey Square. Free, but a donation of £3 is suggested per adult. The Eastgate Clock. It is claimed to be the second most photographed clock in the UK. More on Wikivoyage
Worth doing

Staying safe
Chester is not an especially dangerous city, with no particular reputation for crime. The general rule is the nearer the racecourse (thus more expensive), the safer the area. More on Wikivoyage
