Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at the centre, 11 km from the airport (EVN): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest from July to October; quietest from December to February.

Then and now

Yerevan's March days now average 12.6°C, 5.7°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 12 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — The currency is the dram (AMD). Cards are widely taken in Yerevan, but Armenia is less cashless than much of Europe: carry cash for markets, some restaurants and taxis, and always outside the capital. Yerevan has plenty of ATMs and exchange offices; some ATMs may not take foreign cards, but banks pay out cash at the counter against your passport. Card and ATM fraud occurs: use ATMs in well-lit public places or inside a bank.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
  • Tipping — A 10% tip is customary when dining out; many restaurants now add a 10% service fee, often not stated on the menu, so ask.

Getting around Yerevan

Two buses link Zvartnots airport with the centre of Yerevan, about 20 minutes away by car. Route 100 runs every 30 minutes from 6:50am to 10pm and hourly through the night, for 500 dram: pay by Visa or Mastercard card on board, or with a QR ticket from the TelCell app or the TelCell machines in the arrival and departure halls. Route 201 (Elitebus) runs every 30 minutes from 7am to 10pm, for 300 dram in cash. Eco Taxi has a desk in the arrival hall, open round the clock, and a taxi to the centre costs around 3,000 dram.

  • Apps — Rides: gg, Yandex Go. Maps: Google Maps. Taxis hailed in the street may overcharge: order one through an app, which gives safer cars and fixed fares, or else agree the fare first and check the driver and number plate. Most drivers take no cards and cannot change large notes, so carry small ones.

The center of Yerevan is compact and easy to get around by foot. Watch your step, however, as construction sites, potholes and aggressive drivers abound. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — 911 (any emergency).
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 8 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.
