On arrival
- Apps — Rides: Kakao T, k.ride, TADA, Uber. Maps: Kakao Map, Naver Map. Messages: KakaoTalk. Google Maps still gives no walking or driving directions in South Korea; use Naver Map or Kakao Map.
- Paying — Visa and Mastercard are taken almost everywhere, even for a coffee, but phone wallets such as Apple Pay often fail. Carry some cash for the countryside; T-money also pays in convenience stores.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Seoul — T-money card on the subway, buses and taxis; buy and top up, usually with cash, at stations and convenience stores. A Climate Card pass covers 1 to 7 days. Foreign bank cards cannot be tapped yet.
- Tipping — Not expected, including in taxis; some hotels and tourist restaurants add a 10% service charge.
- Emergency — police 112 · ambulance and fire 119.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 3 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about South Korea as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
