Rain days are the days with at least 1 mm of rain, as a weather station counts them.

Weather read at Luxembourg City, 6 km from the airport (LUX): ten years of ERA5 and ERA5-Land reanalysis, through Open-Meteo's open data.

A busy month is a crowded one, not a bad one — usually it is crowded because the weather is good. It is flagged rather than scored down, and crowds alone never make a month “avoid”: that is reserved for weather worth skipping.

How busy it gets

Busiest in July and August.

Then and now

Luxembourg's June days now average 22.8°C, 4.2°C warmer than in 1981–1990. 9 of 12 months are clearly warmer.

Being there

On arrival

  • Paying — Luxembourg uses the euro, and all major credit cards are accepted.
  • UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.

Getting around Luxembourg

Buses, trams and second-class trains are free for everyone, visitors included, with no ticket; only first class on trains is paid (€3 for two hours, in the CFL go app). From the airport, tram line 1 runs into the city about every 8 minutes, and buses 6 (to Hamilius) and 29 (to the central station) also stop there.

  • Apps — Rides: Uber, WEBTAXI. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp, Messenger. Taxi firms set their own fares, so take an official taxi from a marked rank or ask the price when you book. Each taxi's price list, in the rear passenger window, gives the rate per km and the cards it takes, and fares rise at night and on Sundays.

Luxembourg is a compact country, making it easy to reach nearly any town in the country in an hour or less by public transport. More on Wikivoyage

Help

  • Emergency — police 113 · ambulance and fire 112.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
