Each cell is that destination's own verdict for the month — sweet spot, ok or avoid — with its typical daily high, from the same ten years of climate readings its page is built from. A dot marks a busy month. The last row counts the sweet spots, and the best months are marked.

On arrival
- Apps — Rides: Cabify, DiDi, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Taxis have no meters. At the airport, use only the official taxi stands; in town, have your hotel call a 24-hour taxi firm, confirm the car's colour and the fare when booking (rates within cities are set by the taxi association), and never share a taxi with strangers. Avoid motorbike taxis (motoconchos).
- Paying — The currency is the Dominican peso (RD$), and most prices are in pesos. US dollars and euros can be changed at banks and authorised exchange offices, and businesses in tourist areas often take dollars, at a less favourable rate. ATMs are widespread and give the best rate, but card cloning and skimming are common: use machines indoors and by day, and keep your card in sight when paying.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Punta Cana — Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is a 30-minute drive from Bávaro. Arrange a pick-up with your hotel before you arrive, or take a taxi from the airport's official stands, agreeing the fare first as taxis have no meters; car hire is available too. Expreso Bávaro coaches run between Bávaro and Santo Domingo every day.
- Getting around Santo Domingo — Las Américas airport (SDQ) is about 30 minutes from Santo Domingo. Take a taxi from the stand at the main entrance on the arrivals level, run by the SICHALA drivers' union with the Ministry of Tourism's authorisation; the arrivals area also has banks, and Banreservas exchange booths open round the clock. Around the city, 24-hour taxi firms charge about US$5 one way for most trips.
- Tipping — Restaurant bills include a 10% service charge as well as the 18% ITBIS tax, but leaving another 10% for the server is customary; taxi drivers are not usually tipped.
- Emergency — 911 (any emergency). 911 does not cover the whole country: outside Santo Domingo, call the tourist police (CESTUR) on +1 809 200 3500.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about Dominican Republic as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
