On arrival
- Apps — Rides: Cabify, DiDi, inDrive, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp.
- Paying — Cards are accepted in chain stores and most independent shops in big cities; if the card machine asks about cuotas, choose sin cuotas.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Santiago — Tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard bank card at Metro and Tren Nos gates, at the bip! fare. Red buses take only a bip! card, sold at Metro stations, or a QR code from the Red app, and no cash; with bip!, transfers within two hours cost little or nothing.
- Tipping — About 10% in restaurants is customary, handed to the waiter; leaving nothing is seen as rude unless service was poor.
- Emergency — police 133 · ambulance 131 · fire 132.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 3 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about Chile as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
