Each cell is that destination's own verdict for the month — sweet spot, ok or avoid — with its typical daily high, from the same ten years of climate readings its page is built from. A dot marks a busy month. The last row counts the sweet spots, and the best months are marked.

On arrival
- Apps — Rides: Cabify, DiDi, inDrive, Uber. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Messages: WhatsApp. Street taxis have no meters: agree the fare before you get in, or book through an app or a taxi company.
- Paying — Cards work in chains and upmarket hotels, restaurants and shops, sometimes with a surcharge, which must be shown on a sign; carry soles elsewhere. Many locals pay by Yape QR code.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Lima — Metropolitano buses take a rechargeable Metropolitano or Lima Pass card; Metro Line 1 has its own card, and Line 2 needs the new Tarjeta Interoperable de Transporte (S/ 7.50 at its ticket offices).
- Getting around Machu Picchu — You cannot drive to Machu Picchu: take a PeruRail or Inca Rail train from Cusco or Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo); PeruRail checks that your passport matches the ticket. Buses up to the ruins run from 5:30 am: buy the ticket from Consettur in person at its office by the bus stop in town, or walk up in about two hours.
- Tipping — Not usual in basic restaurants, but 10% for good service is polite.
- Emergency — police 105 · ambulance 106 or 116 · fire 116.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 7 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about Peru as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
