Each cell is that destination's own verdict for the month — sweet spot, ok or avoid — with its typical daily high, from the same ten years of climate readings its page is built from. A dot marks a busy month. The last row counts the sweet spots, and the best months are marked.

On arrival
- Apps — Rides: Bolt. Maps: Google Maps, Apple Maps. Licensed taxis have yellow number plates. To avoid inflated fares, book a major taxi firm such as Baltic Taxi or Red Cab, or use an app such as Bolt that shows the price first; otherwise agree an approximate fare before setting off and make sure the meter is on, as some visitors report meters altered to run fast.
- Paying — Latvia uses the euro. Cards are taken in most restaurants, shops, petrol stations and hotels, and ATMs are widespread, but take out cash before heading outside the cities. Card fraud and overcharging for drinks are reported: keep your card in sight when paying, check bar bills, and use ATMs inside banks where you can.
- UPI, for visitors from India — Not accepted for paying here; bring a card that works abroad.
- Getting around Riga — Bus 22 runs between Riga Airport and the centre, stopping in Old Riga opposite the bus station, in about 30 minutes. A ticket for the city's buses, trams and trolleybuses costs €1.50: buy it beforehand at Narvesen shops or the ticket machines at some stops, or as a code ticket in the Rīgas satiksme or Mobilly app, and validate it each time you board, as inspectors fine on the spot. A taxi from the airport to the centre takes 15 to 20 minutes and costs about €10 to €15.
- Tipping — Reserved: rounding up the bill, by around 5 to 10%, is enough but not necessary; check the receipt, as a few places add a service charge.
- Emergency — police 110 · ambulance 113 · fire 112. In Riga, the tourist police are on +371 6718 1818.
TravelCharika is not an emergency service: we cannot call for help or send anyone. Numbers can change; if one fails, ask someone local or your hotel.
Put together by hand from the sources listed, checked 8 October 2026. Apps, cards and rules change, so check before you rely on one.

Every verdict here is the destination's own: ten years of climate readings, the public holidays that crowd it, and what the flight costs. Nothing is said about Latvia as a whole that was not first measured at each place in it.
